Dealing with Adversity
Overcoming Adversity - HOW

Dealing with adversity can be quite challenging, but in life adversity is inevitable. Always keep in mind that overcoming any adversity may take some time, depending on the situation you are dealing with.

I want you to read below poem – “When Things Go Wrong”…

When Things Go Wrong - by Unknown

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a fellow turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out.
Don't give up though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than
It seems to a faint and faltering man;
Often the struggler has given up
When he might have captured the victor's cup;
And he learned too late when the night came down,
How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out -
The silver tint in the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It might be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit.

Read this poem again. It may remind you of yourself and the situation you live today.

It did for me when I read it 35 years ago or so. It gave me courage to go on with my life when I was dealing with adversity. It helped me to organize myself. It helped me to untangle my thoughts and create for myself an orderly system to acquire knowledge and draw experience from my past failures.

I've repeated the thought “I’m Worthy“ in my mind and visualized my goals until they sank deep in my subconscious mind.

Dream HouseThen through my system I've worked methodically to achieve my goals and made the picture hold tight in my mind to materialize and become the reality in my life.

I've also utilized my Spiritual Powers and developed CONFIDENCE in myself, my abilities, my ideas and my decisions.

FAITH gave me strength and courage to face my problems and successfully find the solution.Faith was a source from where I drew energy to continue my effort to succeed and achieve happiness and prosperity in my life.

I've learned and understood that troubles are just Tests. The purpose of all failures or hardships is not to break us, but to learn from - in order to improve ourselves and plan our future on solid grounds with very strong foundations and become Winners. Adversities are in a way a blessing from above for us to build stronger character, even though they may have destroyed our business and changed our lives totally.

REMEMBER - When the situation looks hopeless keep hoping and when everything looks impossible do not accept defeat!
Sooner or later, one way or another you will overcome any adversity in life.

God understands your troubles, so talk it over with Him in your own language with your own words. However if you do not want to talk to Him for what ever reasons, then untangle your thoughts in your mind, organize them, put everything in an easy to follow orderly system to help you understand what you need to do to succeed and achieve your goals and desires.

I did both. I've asked God for His help and organized my thoughts with my own book of knowledge. Thorough the years I've acquired more knowledge and wisdom to help me deal with every situation I've faced in my life. No matter if it was professional, financial, personal, or emotional, including a major stroke when doctors would give me not much chance that I would ever walk again, but through hard work I was able to get my life back.

My trust in my Spiritual Powers, powers that everybody possess, and the Faith I've developed over the years helped me strengthen my willpower to overcome each and every time troubles knocked at my door.

Overcoming Adversity

Sometimes it seems that everything is shattered by troubles.

As long as you believe YOU CAN, you will put your life back together again - guaranteed.

The test of a man's character is not how he behaves after success, but how he handles defeat in his life.

Trust me, sooner or later all troubles and adversities in life ends one way or another. How soon they will end depends on your character. If you believe you can, you will succeed and achieve your goals. When you feel beaten and you do not know what to do, but you have the ability to learn and the burning desire to achieve your goals, everything that seems to you today as impossible will become possible in your life.

I want you to think that in your life troubles will come knocking at your door as a bad storm that seems would last forever, but the calm in the morning will make you realize that nothing lasts forever – no matter how hopeless the situation looks today.

Take a step at a time when dealing with adversity.
The long journey to success always begins with just one step.

As Edgar A. Guest refers to failures:

“Tis better to have tried in vain,
Sincerely striving for a goal,
Than to have lived upon the plain
An idle and a timid soul.

'Tis better to have fought and spent
Your courage missing all applause,
Than to have lived in smug content
And never ventured for a cause.

For he who tries and fails may be
The founder of a better day;
Though never his the victory,
From him shall others learn the way"

Dealing with Adversity

You may ask, but what about all the obstacles we face on our way to success?

Well, here is Thomas Carlyle point of view:

"Obstacles in the pathway of the weak person become stepping stones in the pathway of the stronger one".

Because,

"Great minds have purposes, other have just wishes.
Little minds are tamed and subdued by misfortunes, but great minds rise above them" - as per Washington Irving.

I do not know if there is a better advice when dealing with adversity that by Rudyard Kipling in his famous poem “IF... “ If you've never read it, I think you should. Here it is:

IF you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breathe a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,
if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,
If all men count with you, but none too much;
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

The truth of the matter is that in our lives we become what our thoughts are in our minds.

So – CHANGE YOUR THOUGHTS to change everything and believe in yourself because:

You Can If You Think You Can!

If you think you are beaten, you are,
If you think you dare not, you don't.
If you like to win, but you think you can't,
It is almost certain you won't.

If you think you'll lose, you're lost,
For out in the world we find,
Success begins with a fellow's will.
It's all in the state of mind.

If you think you are outclassed, you are,
You've got to think high to rise,
You've got to be sure of yourself before
You can ever win a prize.

Life's battles don't always go
To the stronger or faster man.
But soon or late the man who wins,
Is the man who thinks he can.

C. W. Longenecker

I know it is not easy to deal with a failure. But failure it is not the end of your journey to achieve happiness and prosperity in your life. Quite the opposite, it is just a new beginning. It is a blessing from above for you to learn, to acquire knowledge and to draw experience from - in order to build your future on solid ground with strong foundations and wisdom.
